Are you passionate about directing and want to bring a new show to the stage?
Home Theatre Productions is now accepting directing applications for upcoming shows! Inspired by pop culture, fan culture, and all things geek, we aim to bring popular culture aesthetics and narratives to the theatre. We are invested in providing accessible performances for the community, and want to make sure that audiences feel welcome in an atmosphere that encourages community, sincerity, and openness.
As an applicant, you must come with an established show which you want to direct, and which you feel falls within our mandate. “Established”, in this instance, means a play with a production history, and that is available to license through an organization such as Concord Theatricals or Playwrights Guild of Canada, or is in the public domain. If you are having difficulty determining if your proposed play can be licensed, do not hesitate to contact us at hometheatreproductions@gmail.com. Please do your research and look into if the play has recently been performed in the Montreal area. If it has been performed in Montreal in the last five years, it will likely not be considered. Applications for projects that are musicals will not be considered.
The selected show will be produced by Home Theatre Productions for a two week run in the Minimain theatre at Mainline Theatre. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are currently unable to confirm the exact dates of production. This is an intimate, 42 seat theatre with a small backstage area and traditional theatre seating. Please note that the Minimain has VERY minimal tech capabilities. There is simple front light and back light on manual dimmers, and a sound board that can run sound from a computer. Please ensure your project proposal can be done within these specifications. If you have any questions about the performance space, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Directors will be compensated through a profit share model.
